Detection of <i>Protoparvovirus</i> in wastewater and human adenovirus in a green leafy vegetable in an Environmental Education Center in southern Brazil

Abstract The presence of coliforms, Mastadenovirus (AdV), and Canine protoparvovirus (CPV) in an Environmental Education Center, which contains city kennel, was investigated. Surface water wastewater, dogs’ stool, lettuce samples were collected from the irrigation system both periods October 2017 February 2018. Water analyzed for human AdV (HAdV) canine (CAV), CPV, total coliforms (TC), Escherichia coli; AdV; dog stool CAV CPV. Sixty-seven analyzed: (n = 33); 10), root, stem, leaf 24) originated eight samples. Coliforms E. coli tested by Colilert viruses PCR assays, respectively; amplicon sequenced. coli, TC, detected collections. Viruses 34.3% samples, HAdV-C present 13% samples; HAdV-E 8.7% (water lettuce); CAV-1 (dog water); CPV-2a 56.5% stool). Raccoon CPV-like not characterized one wastewater respectively. To our knowledge, this is first description Southern Brazil.
